Fallowing college, Lathan decided to sleep within Just released York, & began performing in off-Broadway productions, including A Movie Star Has to Be Born in Black and White, when her father convinced her to pull back to California to search her fortunes around Hollywood. She has since performed around many television programs including In the House, Moesha, NYPD Blue and Family Matters. She has as well performed sustaining a South Coast Repertory Theatre, most notably around its presentation of Our Town. She likewise appeared inside many picture, like Drive, Blade, Catfish in Black Bean Sauce, Love & Basketball, Brown Sugar and Alien vs. Predator. She was nominated for the Tony Award in 2004 for Raisin in the Sun, and has received many nominations for NAACP Image Awards.
